That all means exactly that.no os, therefore you could not be presented with the opportunity to do anything other than shut down. You will have a blinking cursor on a black screen, maybe saying no os or missing component (missing ntldr or similar). If no OS is present, you couldn't even try. What also puzzles me is when you got it back from BB, you said you tried to go on the Internet, and couldn't. If you have dual boot, the startup will pause with a black screen and white letters asking to pick Win7 or an earlier version. It will go with the default version if you don't pick, waiting a maximum of 30 seconds, or less if it was shortened as it seems from what the geek did to speed up boot. So as I get it to date, you have both XP and Win7, possibly. My neighbor had just that sort of occurrence with an ill configured dual boot. In fact, if dual boot is not done correctly all hell can break loose. I really need to know if you have dual boot. Who built your computer? Homemade or built custom, give us a rundown on it's components-mobo, cpu. I'm trying to wrap my brain around this one. Who is your 'boss' here? I would like to tell him how much I appreciated the time you took to work towards a solution of my many problems. I want to thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to work with me with the issues I had with my computer. He had no solution.Īgain I will get back with you later today for a final report. I showed it to the geek when he was here, and he said to Google it. So that is my last problem to mention to you right now. Never had this issue before my computer came back after its stay at BB. When I turn on CS4 again, I have to add the panel again. Lastly, back to Adobe, I cannot for the life of me keep my layers panel saved when I close out a file. Are there certification processes that you go through? If you can suggest how to find a really good geek person in Charlote NC I would appreciate it. My method of finding a local geek was to go through a computer online group for the Charlotte area. Now I know better and will never ever use them again for that purpose. Normally, I would trot off to BB without a second thought to get a fix. Will be working on PS later this afternoon and will get back to you to give final report of how things are doing. Opened some other images, and had absolutely no issues with that process, as I have had before.Īm working at my 'real' job right now. If I could have done a Spock mind meld with it, maybe I would not have to do that.Ĭomputer turns back on pretty quick, compared to how it was doing after getting home from BB. LOL - turn on computer to find out what system I have. I looked and saw no reference to Windows 7 in properties. If you have dual boot like you said you might have: When the screen comes up with the choice choose the other Operating System, left it boot up, then do the same thing with Msconfig. Choose Normal startup, hit apply, then ok to close. OK, to get msconfig to start all your programs on startup: Go to start, run and type in Msconfig. To find out what system you have loaded (after the computer is running) right click on computer, choose properties and it will tell you. If Hudechrome has he might be able to give you some insight. When you turn on the computer do you get a screen asking what Operating System you want to load? As in XP or Windows 7? I did not det up a dual boot on my Windows 7. Their so called geek squad do not have the knowledge, background nor experience to handle computer problems. They are the only store in town or area now. Ever since Circuit City and Compusa went belly up in our area BB has really got bad with their customer service. After she got her computer back from them I spent 5 hours at her house getting Windows 7 to run correctly. One of my friends is having issues with that company. BB is not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.
